IBM names Vordel as security partner for Service Oriented Architectures Vordel products to simplify SOA security for IBM
May 17, 2004, Dublin, Ireland and Austin, Texas - Vordel, the XML Web Services security company, announced that the company has been chosen as an IBM business partner to provide security management for administrators of Tivoli Access Manager deploying Service Oriented Architectures.
IBM's customers can use VordelSecure, the XML gateway, and VordelDirector, the XML security server, to manage a company's internal and perimeter-based XML security policies in the same way as they manage business applications. Leveraging their investment in Tivoli Access Manager, enterprises can enforce security policies across multiple XML systems, while allowing the management of user identities to be centralized in the IBM access management product.
According to an IBM announcement, the partnership will "simplify security management", allowing administrators to manage and enforce security policies for VordelSecure, the XML gateway, using Access Manager - "and help companies that are deploying a service-oriented architecture (SOA)".
"An SOA can dramatically impact the flexibility and reaction time of a business, but it must be a secure environment," said Laura Voglino, director of Security and SOA Marketing Tivoli Software, IBM. "By working with our partners to develop and deploy SOAs, IBM helps customers move towards an on demand business while increasing the value of their technology investments."
Using IBM's open application program interface (API), Vordel was able to add 'VordelConnect for Access Manager' to VordelConnect, the company's stable of identity management adapters that allow Vordel products to use existing identity management systems for authorization of users and software services.
"Vordel has interoperated with IBM WebSphere for more than two years and with IBM Tivoli Access Manager for the past year. This announcement is a further vindication of the interoperability of our products with the market leaders, and Vordel's importance in securing next-generation networking technologies," said Mark O'Neill, CTO, Vordel.
