British American Tobacco selects Vordel to secure and manage its global SOA infrastructure for improved supply chain efficiencies
Leading tobacco manufacturer deploys Vordel to secure and manage its data center XML traffic in global Services Oriented Architecture
London, July 17, 2006 - Vordel, the SOA Security and management company today announced that British American Tobacco (BAT) has deployed Vordel's SOA security and management technology to protect and manage its XML traffic throughout a global network of data centers.
Following a thorough review of offerings in the marketplace, Vordel was selected as the optimum solution capable of meeting BAT's requirements to protect its enterprise SOA infrastructure. Using Vordel, BAT can remotely manage its SOA deployment on a global level. Key decision factors for selecting Vordel included the firm's demonstrable acceleration of XML security primitives, the product's scalability and easy to use centralized policy management control.
Forrester analyst, Randy Heffner, Vice President Application Development & Infrastructure stated, "Security is most critical for external integration scenarios, but its value is often underestimated in internal integration. More so than many other aspects of your SOA platform, complete security requires an integrated solution across multiple types of products and solutions." (See research footnote).
Gavin Targonski, Technical Architect for Application Technology Strategy at BAT commented, "With Vordel, BAT has been able to deploy a global SOA security infrastructure that aligns with both our business and technology strategies. The solution is standards based and fully conformant to company best practice for SOA security operations".
"Vordel's products provide BAT with the essential security and management framework to take advantage of Web Services technologies," added Targonski.
Vic Morris, Vordel CEO, stated "we have provided BAT with a strategic solution which avoids the need to revisit security and management considerations for their Web Services.
Rather than electing to use short-term solutions such as relying on platform security or using programming toolkits, Vordel provides BAT with the security and management bedrock on which to run its Web Services projects for the future," continued Morris.
