Vordel Enables Enterprises to Manage their Cloud Service Providers via VMware vCloud™ API
Vordel Cloud Service Broker Gives Infrastructure Managers Full Control of Their Organizations' Cloud Usage
August 31, 2010 -San Francisco Today at VMworld 2010, Vordel, a provider of fast, safe connectivity for SOA and Cloud Services announced that its Vordel Cloud Service Broker is the first product of its kind to provide management for the VMware vCloud™ Director. VMware vCloud Director enables enterprises to manage a hybrid environment of their own datacenters and multiple Cloud service providers. Vordel Cloud Service Broker with VMware vCloud Director enables enterprises to obtain the same level of control and visibility of their cloud infrastructure as they have of on-premises infrastructure.
Vordel Cloud Service Broker (CSB) connects organizations to the Cloud. It manages the connections, including management of the API Keys vital for authentication to Cloud services providing security and performance. By leveraging the CSB, IT Infrastructure managers create and enforce rules governing the enterprise's use of avApp. For example, the CSB can enforce a rule such as "a user with this role can start a vApp but not stop or terminate it", or "vApps can only be created during business hours" or "this organization's budget is limited to 20 vApps running at any given time, across all service providers". The joint solution removes any remaining impediments to the adoption of Cloud infrastructure as an enterprise ready service.
Jian Zhen, director, cloud computing solutions, VMware "We welcome Vordel and its Cloud Service Broker to the VMware vCloud™ ecosystem and are excited to see Vordel add support for VMware vCloud Director into its appliance. This empowers the end-user to manage their usage of cloud infrastructure across multiple providers, in accordance with corporate policy. Additionally, it fits neatly into an enterprise's IT architecture alongside identity management, monitoring, and audit logging to deliver IT as a service."
"With Vordel Cloud Service Broker, we're providing organizations with full visibility and control of its VMware vCloud™ Director-based cloud infrastructure" said Mark O'Neill, CTO at Vordel. "As a result of leveraging Vordel Cloud Service Broker, the IT infrastructure manager can control usage of public cloud-based resources alongside control of private cloud services running on-premises. This means companies can scale their IT infrastructure in line with demand, comfortable in the knowledge that all data is accessible and protected in compliance with company policies."
