Vordel secures EBS Building Society Service Oriented Architecture for communication with independent brokers and partner institutions
Vordel chosen to secure large scale SOA project built on IBM WebSphere
Dublin, Ireland - May 28, 2007 - Vordel announced today that its technology has been deployed by EBS Building Society, one of Ireland's leading financial services institutions, to secure and manage a large scale Services Oriented Architecture. The Vordel solution provided a governance framework for an IBM infrastructure to enable EBS roll out new services and products to its channel partners in a controlled manner.
Overlaying a security framework on the IBM WebSphere SOA platform, Vordel provided the ability to enforce policies at all application endpoints. VordelDirector allows policies for governance and compliance to be applied to XML applications throughout their networks, with centralized policy management and monitoring of traffic to centralized log files. These policies covered access management, encryption, digital signature and XML threat analysis, as well as Service Level Agreement monitoring and maintenance of searchable audit logs.
David Yeates, Senior Manager IT Architecture at EBS said "In a competitive review, Vordel outweighed competitors by demonstrating the ability to meet all our requirements to enforce SOA policies at the network perimeter and across internal networks.
Vordel removed the need for programming of security and management policies, providing a fast, cost effective means for ongoing policy control and maintenance as we rollout services into the future."
Vic Morris, CEO at Vordel commented, "we are delighted to add EBS as a customer to our expanding install base of financial services institutions. Operating in a highly competitive and regulated market, EBS Building Society benefited from Vordel's solution to enforce policies that comply with internal and external regulations.
"Furthermore, the scalable and high performance nature of the solution, ensured that EBS is able to respond to market demands for flexible security requirements and improved processing times ensuring no downgrading of customer service" added Morris.
Additional value delivered by the Vordel solution included the ability to leverage the in-house anti-virus engine of choice from Sophos, leveraging this investment to screen all data for potential malicious data. Vordel consultants also provided valuable SOA best-practice security guidance throughout the project to ensure that the EBS Building Society's applications have the maximum protection to allow EBS roll out new services with confidence.
EBS Building Society, based in Dublin, Ireland, is the fifth largest retail credit institution in Ireland with total assets under management of over €16 billion. It offers a broad range of banking, mortgage, saving and investment products and has over 400,000 members.
