Vordel and Oblix enable secure business integration
VordelSecure and NetPoint SAML integration provides a flexible, standards-based XML security solution

December 8, 2003 - Cupertino, CA and Dublin, Ireland - Vordel, the XML security and management company, and Oblix, a leading developer of identity-based security solutions, today announced the integration of VordelSecure® with NetPoint®, to provide a standards-based integrated XML security solution. The integration work was implemented using the SAML (Security Assertions Mark-up Language) protocol, the de facto standard for representing access control information in XML messages.

The combination of NetPoint and VordelSecure enables enterprises to securely deliver business value across the enterprise and externally with customers, partners and suppliers. This enterprise-level solution ensures companies can secure their business process integration with XML systems, including Web Services, and Web systems such as corporate extranets. Using open standards such as SAML to provide seamless integration between the products, enables swift deployment and application of security policies across the enterprise and externally with customers and suppliers.

"We're pleased to welcome this synergistic partnership with Vordel," said Gordon Eubanks, CEO, Oblix. "VordelSecure complements and extends NetPoint's capabilities by allowing strong and secure XML deployment in conjunction with comprehensive access management."

Vanessa Wade, VP EMEA at Oblix commented "combining VordelSecure's XML security with NetPoint's Identity Management functionality, customers can securely and cost-effectively manage identity information inside and outside corporate boundaries, and integrate with partners' systems, to create significant savings. Furthermore, Vordel's strong presence in Europe will complement our business expansion in this marketplace."

Vic Morris, CEO of Vordel, added, "The use of SAML in this solution avoids vendor lock-in and ensures that the solution is future-proofed as an organization's security architecture evolves over time. An organization will benefit from the increased returns on their investments in identity management products whilst at the same time providing the integrated security framework required to meet the demands of an increasingly integrated trading environment."

Morris went on to say that "the solution is fully scalable, and enhances efficiency by providing a single point of enforcement, administration and entitlement management which can be applied to internal and external communication."

The solution is fully scalable, and uses open standards such as SAML and WS-Security, to provide an open architecture for swift deployment. The solution also offers a number of flexible deployment options - by using either an agent or proxy-based architecture.
