Vordel eases security concerns of Service Oriented Architecture and cross-firewall XML deployments with releases of VordelDirector and VordelSecure
Vordel products address need for simplicity, security and the ability to manage compliance mandates in enterprise wide XML security deployments

Dublin, Ireland, March 07, 2005 - Vordel, the XML Web Services security company, today announced the release of the latest versions of its award-winning VordelSecure, XML gateway and VordelDirector, XML security server products. Vordel's products deliver on the requirements for perimeter and enterprise-wide security in SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and cross-firewall XML deployments. By leveraging existing security infrastructure components, Vordel's products reduce the overall cost of ownership.

Customers using Vordel's XML security products include Abbey National, Accenture, Clerical Medical Insurance, Citigroup, Canon, Daimler Chrysler, FleetBoston Financial and Volkswagen AG.

Vordel's products meet the requirements for both perimeter and pervasive enterprise-wide security based on content and identity management of XML traffic. VordelDirector is an enterprise-wide security solution that delivers security services that are callable as part of an SOA. These services include XML Signature, XML Encryption, security token issuance and validation, logging, and threat-analysis of XML. By its nature, this architecture is highly scalable and meets the exacting performance and pervasive security requirements of large enterprises.

VordelSecure, an XML gateway, provides a broad range of threat prevention and identity management filters to protect Web Services. It sits as an in-line intermediary that filters XML traffic according to a set of configurable security rules and is available as an appliance or software solution.

Vordel's products address the commercial and regulatory issues influencing decisions on the roll out of Web Services based offerings. By combating the threat of fraudulent Web Service usage and addressing regulatory compliance mandates, Vordel's products have become an integral element of any XML security infrastructure. Furthermore, by leveraging existing security investments and applying them to new XML based services, Vordel reduces the overall cost of ownership of an enterprise's security infrastructure.

The new features simplify the challenges of deploying XML security thereby increasing developer productivity and accelerating the time to market for new services.

Enhanced functionality simplifies deployment of security
Both the VordelDirector and VordelSecure releases incorporate several new features to simplify the deployment and enforcement of security policies on intra- and inter-enterprise XML data flows.

XPath Wizard
Vordel ships an XPath Wizard with its products, in contrast to competing products that require costly manual entry of XPath or use of third-party editing tools. With Vordel the security administrator simply selects the portion of their XML documents to be signed, encrypted, or validated.

XML Schema Editor
The XML Schema Editor allows administrators to quickly apply security rules to be enforced over XML elements and attributes, while also providing greater control over which elements are mandatory and which are not, as well we defining how many instances of each element should be present. The XML Security editor also automatically generates of XML Schema Definitions from XML documents and SOAP messages.

Web application security
Many Web Service applications involve the client sending a HTTP request to a Web Service to retrieve XML, rather than invoking the Web Service by sending an XML document or SOAP message. Vordel has added security for these Web Services, by scanning HTTP query-strings and HTTP headers for threatening content.

Enhanced scalability and performance
Redundancy has been built into all VordelConnector connectors, including connectors to Web Access Control policy servers and to OCSP responders. This ensures that there is no single point of failure.

Extended security integration
Vordel has deepened the integration of its products with security partner RSA's ClearTrust access control, thus enabling RSA customers to apply the preconfigured authorization and authentication rules in ClearTrust to XML traffic entering and exiting their organization.
