Boston, 12th June, 2006 - Vordel, the SOA Security and Management company, announced today that Vordel's CTO will deliver a key presentation at the forthcoming annual Burton Catalyst Conference (San Francisco June 14-16). Vordel CTO, Mark O'Neill has been selected along with representatives from BEA and Microsoft to present on the pressing issue of Application security. The Vordel session will focus on the delivery of security as services, using technologies such as SAML and WS-Trust to demonstrate how security and identity federation can be achieved to protect the SOA deployment.
In his presentation "The Flipside of Web Services security - Delivering security as a service" O'Neill, author of the book, "Web Services Security", examines how Web Services can be applied to overcome the interoperability issues that emerge when enforcing security across different applications within a Service Oriented Architecture. Interoperability is an issue when users migrate from one security context to another and when security policies are conveyed from one application to another.
O'Neill will demonstrate how Web Services are being applied to identity management and to policy exchange. He also examines the application of the fundamental ideas behind Web Services, namely the "reusability" of applications by exposing security functionality "as a service" that can be reused across the network to secure multiple application endpoints.
The presentation will also provide interesting insights to the challenges and opportunities presented by SOA technologies and how Vordel is successfully implementing security and management solutions for some of the world's major corporate institutions.
