CA leverages Vordel XML gateway technology in CA SOA Security Manager

Dublin, Ireland and Boston, November 20, 2007 - XML network management company Vordel, today announced that CA, one of the world's largest information technology management software companies, has licensed Vordel's XML gateway technology as a component CA SOA Security Manager, the latest addition to CA's industry-leading identity and access management (IAM) solution.

Available with CA IAM r12, CA SOA Security Manager provides comprehensive identity-based Web services security-including authentication, authorization, auditing and protection against XML threats-all in a single integrated solution. It enables IT organizations to centrally manage the security of their enterprise SOA/Web service deployments. By abstracting security from the Web services themselves, CA SOA Security Manager helps customers to significantly reduce the administrative burdens and other costs associated with providing security for SOA/Web services.

"As corporate customers scale up their Web services and SOA deployments in order to better leverage existing resources within and beyond the enterprise, they need more sophisticated and scalable means of ensuring the security of their computing environments," said Bill Mann, senior vice president of CA's Security Management business unit.

"By incorporating Vordel's proven technology into CA SOA Security Manager, we are delivering precisely the type of comprehensive, readily deployable policy-based solution the market is seeking" added Mann.

The Vordel XML Gateway is a dedicated network device for offloading processor-intensive tasks from applications running in general purpose application servers. It performs application networking by routing traffic based on content, based on sender, and performing XML content screening. XML data is converted on the fly between formats.

David Linthicum, Managing Partner at analyst firm ZapThink commented that, "The ability to apply policies to SOA is critical. Using Vordel's XML Gateway technology as an integral component of a centralized policy-based approach to SOA is a smart move."

Neil Macehiter, Research Director at Macehiter Ward-Dutton opined that, "the authentication and authorization of service providers and consumers plus end-to-end message security are critical enablers of a security architecture for the service oriented approach."

"A comprehensive, policy-based management framework is required to maximise control without compromising the promised benefits of SOA" he added.

Vic Morris, Vordel CEO, commenting on this announcement said, "The advanced management control, security and performance offered by the Vordel XML Gateway make it a compelling solution when combined with CA's long time strength in policy based AAA security for those deploying XML based applications as part of their SOA initiative.

We are proud to partner with CA with whom we have worked closely to deliver this world-class enterprise SOA solution, he continued."
